The concepts of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) began as a result of the 1985 Los Angeles Fire. Volunteers will help others in an emergency and now, CERT is actively managed by FEMA with over 2,700 active CERT programs nationally and over 600,000 Members spanning the United States. The Butte County CERT Program operates under the support and order of Sheriff Kory L. Honea.
CERT Members focus on Self-Preparedness and then on assisting our communities with Fire Safety, Medical Response, Search and Rescue Support, Emergency Communications and Animal Control Support.
